テリー・エリスと北村恵子が2022年10月にオープンした店「MOGI Folk Art」。独自の目線でキュレーションした、民藝、さまざまな国や地域のクラフト、アート、オリジナルやヴィンテージの洋服などを紹介しています。
この度、MOGI Folk Artが、2つめの店「MOGI & MOGI Gallery shop」をオープンいたします。新しい場所である通称「モギモギ」では、1人の作家にフォーカスをした展覧会を開催するなど、お客様が作品や作家の思考と触れ合って、密度の濃い時間を過ごせる場所になります。

オープニングエキシビションは、益子で1970年代から活動をした陶芸家、設楽洋子（〜2022）の個展を開催します。30年以上通う益子でエリスと北村は、知る人ぞ知るという存在であった陶芸家、設楽洋子の作品に出会い、ここ数年、彼女の作品を収集してきました。日常の生活で普段使いの器として作っていたモノクロームのシリーズと、幼少期から絵を描くのが好きだったという設楽が、自由に大胆に表現する赤絵のシリーズ、約60点ほどの作品を展示いたします。過去最大規模で開催する陶芸家、設楽洋子個展。ぜひご注目ください。

MOGI Folk Art was opened by Keiko Kitamura and Terry Ellis in October 2022. It introduces crafts, folk art and contemporary art from various regions. The store also has original and vintage clothing, and more, all curated from a unique perspective.

MOGI Folk Art has now opened its second store called MOGI & MOGI Gallery shops. As well as group shows, the new gallery commonly known as "Mogimogi," also hosts exhibitions focusing on one artist, allowing customers to spend a rich time interacting with the artist's works and their thoughts.

The opening exhibition was a solo exhibition of Yoko Shitara (until 2022), a potter who had been active in Mashiko since the 1970s. Ellis and Kitamura have been visiting Mashiko for over 30 years, and came across the work of Shitara, a potter who was known only to those in the know, and have been collecting her work for the past few years. The exhibition featured approximately 60 pieces, including her monochrome series of wares for everyday use, and her colourful overglaze enamel series, in which Yoko Shitara, who has loved drawing since childhood, freely and boldly expresses herself. This has been the largest solo exhibition of this artist to date.
